Meet Molly Cassatt: Stewardship Director

At a young age, Molly developed an appreciation for the beauty and serenity of the great outdoors and rural landscapes.

Enjoying science classes as a young student, Molly continued her education at the SUNY College at Brockport where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Water Resources and a masters in Environmental Science & Ecology. Her graduate thesis focused on wetland restoration under changing weather patterns.

Molly previously worked for a local Soil & Water Conservation District where she implemented conservation projects on farms and developed a stream water quality monitoring program before joining the Conservancy in early 2022.

As an avid equestrian, boater, hiker, and gardener, Molly continues to develop her love for nature and gratitude for conservation.

As Stewardship Director, Molly leads the management of the Conservancy’s nature preserves for natural resource protection and space for recreation. She also oversees the protection of over 27,000 acres of lands under conservation easements and assist landowners with questions and general conservation guidance.

Providing practical tips to help landowners with their land management, from erosion issues to invasive species, is very rewarding for Molly.

Molly has already begun to enhance the Conservancy’s conservation capabilities. She has begun developing efforts to restore and protect degraded or threatened natural resources within the nature preserves. With her education in restoration and experience in grant writing, Molly is working to bring in new opportunities to further enhance our beloved places.
