Human impacts are increasingly affecting the environment around the globe.

We are working to mitigate those impacts in the Genesee Valley through conservation efforts and by doing our work in a climate-conscious way.

Undeveloped lands provide natural solutions to many problems people are facing.  Filtering drinking water before it enters our lakes, providing clean air to breath, and collecting stormwater from major rain events.  With every conservation project we review, we are considering the property’s ability to provide natural solutions to challenges we are increasingly facing. 

As we do conservation work, we’re also taking steps to reduce our organization’s pollution.  A 14kWp solar array installed on our office roof offsets 100% of our electrical usage, eliminating 3.9 tons of carbon pollution annually. Additionally, a compost bin allows staff to divert food waste from the landfill and we’re taking steps  to make all of our events zero-waste.
