Kevin Killigrew Joins Staff as Seasonal Land Steward

Growing up in Rochester, Kevin has been involved in the outdoors - running, cycling, kayaking - and exploring the natural areas of Rochester and the surrounding region his entire life.

Kevin attended SUNY Brockport and graduated with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in environmental science and ecology.

His graduate thesis focused on experimental hydroponic “floating wetlands” and the potential for wetland plants to improve degraded water quality.

Kevin previously worked at the Great Lakes Coastal Wetland Monitoring Program, where he traveled along Lake Ontario and Erie identifying wetland vegetation and monitoring coastal wetland health.

As the Land Steward at Genesee Valley Conservancy, Kevin is helping to create baseline documentation for new conservation easement projects and managing our nature preserves by leading volunteer workdays and creating specific species inventories and management plans.
