Research and Education

Our protected lands provide more than beautiful places to hike and farm, they are active classrooms for local schools and universities.

From class projects to long-term research studies, providing teachers with access to protected lands allows them to teach students in a hands-on setting.

Users of the Island Preserve in Geneseo include Geneseo Central elementary and high school students who make the short walk without use of transportation during a normal class period.  College students from SUNY Geneseo visit the preserve to complete lab work and gather data for research projects.
