Half Marathon and 5K Run/Walk
Since 2005, the Oak Tree has been a great way to get in shape, test yourself and have fun in a beautiful setting all while supporting the conservation efforts of the Genesee Valley Conservancy. Over 430 people participated in the Oak Tree in 2009. The Oak Tree also benefits the Geneseo Central School Cross Country Team.

Geneseo Trio
For the first time, the Oak Tree has joined with the Friday Knight 5k Race/Walk and the Ramon Rocha 5K Run/Walk to create the Geneseo Trio: three Geneseo 5k run/walk events. Visit the Geneseo Trio page for details on this great series.
Business Challenge
We are challenging businesses to encourage their employees to get fit, have fun, and run or walk the Oak Tree. Businesses will be divided into two categories:
Small: 10 or fewer employees
Large: Greater than 10 employees
To Qualify
Small Business: At least 5 employees participate
Large Business: At least 10 employees participate
To Register
Simply have each of your participating employees register on their own for the Oak Tree. Then, SUBMIT THIS FORM listing each of your participants by August 29th.
Benefits
-Receive a photo of your team at the event
-Your business will be recognized in race materials and on race day during the awards ceremony
Awards
-A random drawing from both the Small and Large businesses will occur; the winners will receive a picture frame and plaque for their team photo
-Possible other awards include; largest team, most spirited team, etc.

Course Description
Half Marathon
Course Map - - Elevation Map
This USATF certified course runs on paved (40%) and dirt roads (60%) through the National Historic Landmark village of Geneseo and the Nations Road Grasslands, identified as an Important Bird Area by the National Audubon Society. The course runs past the majestic Oak Tree savannahs of the Genesee Valley and 16 GVC protected properties.
Six water stations are on the course along with live musical groups. A restroom will be located on the course either at miles 5 and 10 OR at miles 4 and 11. Finish at the Geneseo Central School Track.

Unique local awards like no other race! Past awards have included cash, gift certificates to local establishments (for running shoes, massages, workouts, food), maple syrup products, organic peanut butter, worm-made organic fertilizer, potted Oak trees, drinking glasses, t-shirts, and hand made finisher awards.

Training
What: Friendly training for those looking to meet and train with others. Distances and speeds vary depending on participants. Come to walk/run or run. Bring a friend!

Volunteer
Individuals and groups are needed to help with a wide variety of tasks to make the Oak Tree a success. Volunteers are needed for pre-day work (office work, PR, registration), day of work (registration, packet pickup, water tables, traffic control, setup/take down, musical performance), and post-day work (office work, tying up loose ends).

Spectators
For those not participating in the Oak Tree, we encourage you to watch anywhere along the course to cheer on the participants*
Best viewing of both courses is along the North end of Main Street. The half marathon runners will be on Main St. from 9:00 till 9:20, running to the fountain and then back north on Main St. out Route 39. The 5K runners/walkers will be on Main Street starting at 9:15 before turning up Center Street.
*During the race the dirt roads (Nations, Roots Tavern, and Houston) will be closed to minimize dust.
